I've been putting off building a shed for too long so a couple of weeks ago I decided it was time.

The first weekend I removed the topsoil and filled with 6" of crusher run and compacted it. I set some forms and 1/2" rebar.

I googled "pouring concrete slab" and after watching a couple videos I remembered how heavy wet concrete is and decided I'd have a local guy take care of it instead.

He came over last Friday with his son and set the concrete for me.

I got started on the actual construction of the shed on Saturday and it was pretty hot so I set up a couple of tents for a little bit of shade.

Sunday I got the rest of the OSB siding on and called it a day. I was pretty pleased with the progress considering I was working alone for most of the time.

My son is home from college for a few days so hopefully tonight we can get the rafters up.

That is really nice. Looks like you know what you are doing.

I am just trying to get into being able to do what you are doing. All the pictures and stuff really help. But, the one aspect I never see on TBN is the very beginning of the project when people do the measurements and layout to ensure the structure is perfectly square. Is that just pretty easy to do such that pictures are not necessary?

It is pretty easy. Once you insure that the opposite sides are exactly identical in length, you only have to adjust the two diagonals (corner to corner) to get them equal. Then you are perfect. Some people like to lay out 3 - 4 - 5 triangles in the corners which may help to start squaring a large building, but I just get the diagonals within 1/8" of equal and everything is perfect.

Interesting stakes. Are those rebar with clamps to the forms? I usually use wooden stakes but that might be easier.
