Anyone out there know who produces most of the front mounted snowblowers for cut's ?
My guess is that the "big 3 or 4" is buying them from someone.( tell me if I'm wrong) Then when the appropriate color is applied the $ goes up about 40% /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I've got a Pronovost 3pt. blower that works great; just tired of looking backwards ???
I'd like to save a few bucks if possible; front mounts are just plain "to expensive" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
FYI- It's for on my 6284 Cub.
Thanks,

GrayBeard,

I don't know who produces the front mount blowers but even if one did know I'm sure you could not buy direct. The manufacturer will only distribute through the tractor brand.

Yes, they are expensive compared to the 3PH models but it includes the adapter plates, drive shaft, coupler bearing, mounting frame, hydraulic cylinder for lift (and probably one for turning the chute) and hydraulic hoses. There is a lot more to a front mount blower than just the brand name.

Jeff,
You're probably right.
I was just hoping /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I know there's more to them than a rear mount but holy moses they're salty...

When I was looking for a machine, I stopped by a private tractor dealer. (Someones yard with a bunch of overprice machines). Anyway, he had 1 or 2 chinese tractors that had front mounted blowers. They had driveshafts that went all the way back to the rear Pto. I think any rear blower can be converted to front blower. Need a lift cylinder and a gear/pulley so the driveshaft can be lower.

I don't know, for sure, who makes J.D.'s front mount blower(s). As for their 47", search J.D. Owner forum for "Frontier Snowblower". Dutch corrected me on that and believes J.D. makes it themselves. Dutch provides a lot of good info on TBN.

As for the cost of front vs. rear blowers; If you can swing the hefty $'s, go for a good front end blower. I bit the bullet last year and am not disappointed. The 47" on my 24 hp CUT is more fun than one man should have (shhh...don't tell wife, she thinks it's hard work /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif). The only time I have to turn around in the seat is to push the town plow's mud/rock/snow piles out of the end of the driveway with the RB. Beats backing up 600', repeatedly, with a rear-mount. JMHO

Tom,
Is there any special requirements for a front mounted blower?
I guess my question is, what powers it? PTO? Hydraulics? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks

MIke,

Not sure about configuation of all front blowers but, the JD 47" has a quick hitch hanger (is quick too), a hydraulic lift that litteraly pins on/hangs on the hitch. The blower is run from the mid/front PTO (long driveline feading through bearing in the lift). Two hydraulic lines run from lift to quick connects for the FEL. Driving into the blower with spring loaded pins out (load position), line up is easy, pins usually drop in by themselves. Two more hydraulic lines feed back to the two remaining FEL quick connects from the blower to turn the blower chute. Sorry, no hydraulic angle control on chute deflector...set by hand. The only time consuming part of the process is running the hoses and installing the driveline. That is actually pretty quick. I dropped my FEL and installed the blower in all of 20 minutes, in the dark, the other night.

Hope that answers the questions. Only problem here is the promised snowfall today/tonight fizzled. Guess I'll have to find something else to do, come sunrise. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Scott,

Was just kidding. Our crew NEVER plows in the end of the drive, usually just after I've cleared and NEVER, NEVER knock down my mailbox, tack the post back together with a 2x4 (2 nails) and then don't fess up to it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Actually, I don't blame them for plowing in the end of the drive...not much else they can do. However, I'd appreciated it if they'd leave my #$%^#$%^ !!! ;mailbox alone, it's not in their way. But then, I suppose the crews over in Wells are more consciencious /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Appreciate the responses.
I just thought that a lot of attachments that we put on any "color' CUT are made by some other mfg.
'Just thought if the "code" could be cracked /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif , may save some $'s.
Probably find out "who shot" JFK sooner /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you find out the answer to either question please share it. But then you might have to change your name and address /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I can't remember the manufacturer but thats exactly what I was talking about. Some machines have mid mounts which makes it a bit easier, but then you have to deal with speed differences.

A company that was called Ameriquip makes implements for some OEM's and also markets some stuff directly through dealers. On their web site, you could clearly tell some of the OEM brands in the photos even though the badges were removed from the machines / photos.

Not sure what happened to them (bought out or re-named), or if they even built snowblowers. Can't find their website anymore.

I've seen the lorenz blowers before but I think all the "frame work " for the rear pto may "clash" with all the hardware for the BH and loader on my machine.
I do have a mid pto.
Maybe I'm just tryin' to "push a chain" on this one /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks, GrayBeard

Well there goes that excuse for not buying a blower. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
He doesn't include a JD790 but I might just email him to see if it's possible.
Thanks
