I have fuel in my generator that is 4 or 5 years old. Same fuel that was in it when I bought it used. I start the generator easily ever 6 months or so. I run high test in my lawn mower and all my 2 cycle mix. The 2 cycle mix gets Stihl oil. I do not run most equipment dry but I do cut off the fuel in the generator and let is burn up the fuel in the carb. I have never had a fuel related issue. I have had carbs on used equipment I bought that needed new fuel pump diaphrams. I guess the ramble is why buy expensive cans of premix if your state lets you buy decent high test? I could go buy a marina gas station or one close to a lake to get advertised alchohol free but high test from Krogers or Shell has worked for me.
Yeah you be right. No Ethanol, super duper. Around here it costs another dollar and a half a gallon right now. Ethanol is the enemy of small engines, rubber lines.etc.
I have had the fuel line rot because of the poor gas we have now, especially in California.
- One time, it just plain rotted in to pieces.
- One time, the fuel line got soft, and would collapse under load.
It is weird some of the things newer oxygenated gas does to small engines these days...
