Dont know if I should post this here or elsewhere, if elsewhere please move.....

THIS IS A DONT DO POST.

Anyway, I was looking on youtub at bx videos as I was bored to death. To hot outside to do anything right now. And while looking, I was stunned at what I found. And thought to myself, WHY? I always try to be safe when running any machine be it big or small, and thought this should be given the DARWIN Award. If the tractor would have had a failure, God forbid the kids would have gotten hurt......

That is definitely the most idiotic thing I've ever seen.

I will admit to having experienced as bad or worse in my time, for example riding on the front fender of our family car. For safety sake, I should have been in my normal riding place, i.e. the rumble seat (with no seat belts nor adult supervision).

We now know better though, and jeapardizing the life of a small child is unforgiveable.

I have to agree. There is another vid showing him pulling a bolder with a chain wrapped around it and the little girl riding on the bolder. ..REALLY? I am not one for bubble wrapping the kids before I sent them out to play either. Mine had their share of bumps and bruises and broken bones from go carts and dirt bikes and such. But a machine is not a toy to be playing with and giving bucket rides. I know if it were to have a failure, we would have been reading about it in the news.....sad to think that way, but true.

I think I'll misquote Kaiser Bismarck from Germany. He said, "God watches over, drunkards, small children, and Kubota owners."
Ha. I just sank the Bismarck twice.
PS
The guy is really dumb for posting that. The video is less than 5 years old--the general period for the statue of limitations in crimes. He can still get pinched for child endangerment.

And yet we load ourselves and our children into our automobiles without any real concern. Run the statistics and see how many deaths and injuries happen to kids riding in tractor buckets vs those who suffer in car wrecks.

An accepted risk.

I wouldn't do what is done in the video, but I've survived much riskier situations of my own doing. I think most of us have.

If this is endangerment, I was endangered for half of my life. I guess we smarter and "know" better now but I rode many a day to the hay field sitting on the front of hay spear cause the tractor cab was already full or in the back of a pickup to town and back. Could I have fallen and got hurt, sure, but I was hurt (some are permanent injuries) more often playing on the playground and in sports. Seems nowadays you let your kid mow the lawn, someone calls child protection (actually had that happen in CT).

Technically he was not operating the BX outside of any capacity specs and that attachment he had on the three point looked beefy enough to provide adaquate counterbalance for the load in the bucket. He did drive the tractor slowly while the bucket was raised and only sped up as he lowered the bucket. Personally not my cup of tea but dosen't warrant CPS intervention.

He did put cushions in there for her. That makes it better! I don't know that I would do it with my kid but maybe someone else's kid. 😁

I was thinking all it would have taken is for that kid to have bent her knees down and him slipping a pedal and her legs would have been crushed between that bank and the bucket. I had a friend whose brother-in-law died that way from internal injuries after being pinned between a dirt pile and a skidsteer bucket.

Anyhow, people have done fun stuff without thinking for generations. Should he have done it? No. Was he being malicious? No. It was just a fun thing without thinking of the consequences. Heck, I rode sleeping on the back dash of my parents cars for years. Very few people wore seat belts. Many folks sat their kid in their lap while they mowed or plowed fields. Once you know its not safe, you tend not to do it anymore. But if it never occurred to you, or no one ever told you, or you had no knowledge of the dangers, how would you ever know? Common sense is based on past experience and knowledge. If you have none, you have none.

Let's ride 1,000,000 kids per day in buckets on tractors and 1,000,000 kids in cars per day and see how are killed or injured in buckets vs. cars.

spending quality time with kids, priceless. Method, not so much....

I am sure that I have done far more dangerous things as a kid and as an adult and lived thru them. I wouldn't do that to a child today though.

Well when I was about 4 years old I was riding on the fender of my Grandfathers Ford 8N and he was driving. My cousin was in the seat of the old mowing machine, a sickle mower on big cast iron wheels. I fell off the back and my cousin screamed, he stopped, if she hadn't screamed I probably wouldn't be here today. It drives me nuts to see people riding babies and kids on lawn mowers and tractors.

I once saw a woman sitting on the back of the seat top of a riding mower and had a baby carrier in the lawn mower seat, the part the driver is suppose to be in. I wanted so bad to go back and tell her how dangerous that was but I knew it would have fell on deaf ears.

I dont see why child protection should be getting involved either. He was just giving his kids a good time, but it could have turned bad had the tractor had a failure....Thats all I posted it for....I have done some crazy stuff to when I was younger...****, even when I am older still do. I agree also, more people may be banged up in cars and such. I broke my back in 3 places on a dirt bike when 42 while trail riding, and nobody made me ride it. I will say though, I had a ton of gear on that saved me from never being able to walk again. But, there again, I see all the time people running through the woods with no gear on that are just asking to get hurt but come out just fine. So its all good......Just please be careful....
