It's stiff out of the box. Get a smaller diameter, long socket, put it over the brake lever and pop it. You'll be fine

I'll mess with it more this weekend. I had some storm blow-down I wanted to clean up last night but never got to it because it took so long messing with the assembly.

Well, you guys hooked another sucker. I ordered one to accompany my trusty CS-590 Timberwolf. I unboxed last night and tried to put the bar on but the brake mechanism seems faulty? Or is it just really stiff from the manufacturer? I can't get the clutch cover back on because the brake spring is too tight and I can't seem to move the little metal brake lever that stick out the top. Any ideas or should I just throw it back in the box and return it?
Sounds like you tripped the brake taking off or something. Never a issue on oem or clones.

See how band looks unlocked.

The Joncutter G2511 I bought from Az had the brake tripped when it came out of the box. No amount of leverage was going to reset the brake lever without breaking something. I took it off the saw and the mechanism that holds the brake piston or whatever you call it was misassembled. There are some pins that are supposed to ride in slots...they weren't in the slots causing the brake to be jammed up. I finally got it back together and it now works fine.

Check to see if your saw has a bulge between the chain cover and the piece of gray plastic that holds the brake actuator mechanism to the cover. It should be at least as flush looking as this one, but if there's a gap, it could be that the mechanism isn't assembled correctly.

I used the lil'bugger today. just a few cuts on a hemloc root that is wrapped around some exposed ledge. It was a bout 60 years old when I cut the tree down a few weeks ago. I left the stump about four feet tall from the top of the ledge, thinking to try to tip the lion's share off the ledge for a cleaner job.
Made several cuts with the clone saw (clown saw? ;-) gritting my teeth waiting for sparks to fly off the brand new chain.
(When your cutting roots, you know what's up going in)
The little saw cut like gangbusters! And NO SPARKS! I didn't even get it in the dirt!

Chained the tractor to the top of the stump, Put the transmission in low range and gave a mighty TUGGGH!

Nothing! Nadda, Zilch! The stump didn't even quiver! Too much stump, and not enough cut roots for the B2601. Oh well.

Might be a task well suited to the Fordson E27n. That lady has some heft to her!

Comment on the saw. For as little sawing I did, the bar oil sure went down.

Put down a small hemloc just now.
Used the Husky for the felling cut.
Then switched to this little clown saw.

What a limbing machine! A bit more bending over due to the short bar, but it's so light. A little dangerous being a one handed saw .. but I try to think about every cut and where my flesh and bones are relative to those spinning teeth! I alread got my money out of it. And just the second tank of fuel ;-)

This saw is so light and cuts so well, that it is what I reach for most of the time. I've had enough occasion to use it now, that I've developed the "touch" for the handling and performance. Like I said, it makes my other saws seem bulky.
I think the 2511's are a magnitude of size smaller, and a magnitude of power greater, that makes them more than a little different/better.

Once you went this way with these super light saws TH and rear.
It even makes the light 50cc saws feel bulky and even my 35cc top handle 200T clone. .

The little echo's have spoiled me. I only grab 50cc rear or 35cc G111 TH if over 12" anymore.

Man when they come out with clone rear handle I'll grab a few more. 1 for me and 1 for dad for gift.

Weight as used with b+c and tanks full. :ROFLMAO:

Found a dead tree in the fence row that needs to be removed. I'll order the .325 kit and let the little saw handle it

Although I’m not a big fan of the concept of cloning, which sounds more like a nice word for “patent infringement” 😁 , I am looking forward to reviews on the RH version.
I could see one in each of my trucks frame mounted tool boxes in the future and keeping my big saws safely locked away in my metal, lockable cabinets, safe from the “tools for meth” thieves.
