Thanks for the reply NAVASOT: I am trying to avoid taking out the castle nut ball joint. IT appear to hard to put back in. The ball joint assembly knuckle arm end has three bolts in it, the last bolt on the end has two head bolts on each side, and are hard for me to brake loose. Even if I could unbolt theses two bolts, than you have the sleeve held down by the three bolts on the ball joint assembly knuckle arm end that appear will be hard to remove. With a thin wrench I should be able to hole the piston from turning coming out of the power steering cylinder directly behind the ball joint assemble cylinder end ( middle piece with rubber boot) there is a cut into the end to put a wrench on the end of the piston and the end after the bolt/nut on the ball joint assembly cylinder. This appear will disconnect the complete tie rod assembly away from the power steering cylinder, except for the two power steering fluid lines. There is no 1 1/8 wrench made just for this??? The shop will have to remove this part in order to replace the cylinder seals.

I see what you got in mind. Yes they will have to remove a good bit and less parts is less labor. They do have specific tools and im sure are use to dealing with such problems.. But what your describing can work but iv never tried exactly that process

Put it on a slab to locate the leak.. im betting its leaking at the power steering cylinder itself
HI NAVZSOT: I have a Mahindra 4500 2wd 2002,,,I am removing my HSU for the second time, within two years, my HSU had the top seal replaced the first time, when it was leaking powering steering fluid from under my steering wheel. After I reinstalled the HSU back on my tractor and after using the tractor a while I began to notice the tractor will not make sharp turns, but it will make wide turns. I assumed it was because when I reinstalled the HSU maybe I did not align the steering wheel rod shaft correctly into the HSU. So I continue using my tractor, but making wide turns. Than I began to notice after driving the tractor while it becomes harder to turn, and I can turn the steering wheel around and around and the front tires will just barely turn or no turn at all. I notice when my tractor sits over night, or sits for two or more days, I can get on it and make sharp turns with no issues, but this only last for a while, before it start again not letting me make sharp turns and steering wheel getting stiffer. ASs I get off the tractor I can hear a frying or boiling noise, it appear to be coming from the HSU, and I can see a little fluid leak again from the top of the HSU. I read another member on this website state the root cause of the HSU leak is because the Mahindra 4500 tractor was designed with the power steering fluid reservoir is mounted over the motor maniford which makes the fluid in the power steering reservoir hot, and that fluid flows to the HSU, which burn/over heat the HSU seals and cause the HSU to leak power steering fluid. Can you stat that any of this is true???? If so, how to prevent the power steering fluid reservoir from getting hot???????

If you have no visible leakage you may have a bad pump seal. Pumps are located lower, right of engine. Check your engine oil and hyd oil to see if its over full. I suspect if you have a bad steering pump seal it will leak into your hyd work pump. 👍
HI JABonee: I have a 4500 Mahindra 2002, I have replace my HSU the second time, my steering wheel turn around and around, I replaced the HSU myself, I have double checked for power steering fluid leaks, found none, after installing the second HSU, drive my tractor a little, and the tractor will not make sharp turns, and later steering gets hard and will not turn the front wheels at all. Tractor is now jacked up off front wheels and still will not turn front wheels. Replaced filter in power steering fluid reservoir still no change. fluid reservoir is full. It appear no fluid is getting to the front wheels cylinder. What is a bad steering pump seal?? And where is this pump seal??? Does the Mahindra 4500 have a power steering pump and a hydraulic pump, or are they both build in one. I only see one pump i beleive is the hydraulic pump on the right side of the tractor below the fluid reservoir, and above the hydraulic filter. Is the steering pump seal inside this unit. Please give me some advice why my mahindra 4500 not turning the front wheels........
