I HATE JD online parts store!

Once you think like a parts guy these sites are easy to navigate. I never search for the part name, always look up the part number on the program and make sure I have the right part as its the easiest.

John Deere links their dealers inventory onto their program which is nice as I have 10 dealers locally that I can see which one has the part and if none of them do they ship it out of Syracuse next day.

CNH has a good program also but do not have their dealers tied into it. However, Messicks takes care of that themselves so I can buy any of my John Deere, Case-IH and New Holland parts from my own chair instead of trying to explain what the part is to the parts guy either in person or harder yet on the phone.

I love it myself...You have to think "like a parts guy";)

When Im curious or need something JD parts is been a real help. I like it too. Can check if local dealer has what you need from the site also. Had part catalogs for the late 50's no. 15 subsoiler and early 50's crow foot packer.

You can't link to JDParts because you need to log in...

Oh, that is why the link didn't work for me...

Silly me, I just said a few words "blessing" the site and moved on, convinced it would never work for me.

I generally like the JD Parts web site. It's not perfect; but I've had good luck with it. My biggest gripe is when I order a part online, they don't have a direct ship to my house option; only to the dealer. This means I pay the dealer to ship it UPS to me or make the 50-mile round trip for the parts. I generally make the trip as it gives me a chance to look at toys and if the part doesn't look right, I can brainstorm with the parts guy to find a solution.

As for kits/whole goods, Deere makes the dealers sell these items through the sales department, which is why you can't add them to your cart.

Yeah, that's another thing that irritates me.
I understand that it's in the dealer's interest and that's one of the perks of being a JD dealer, but heck, place the order through them and ship it straight to me!
I don't mind giving the dealer a cut (especially if there was one locally instead of 130 mile round trip) but I don't typically think far enough ahead to order parts days before I need them.
By the time an out of stock order is shipped to them, sorted then shipped to me, I'm looking at least a week out.

You can use the program to look for the part number and check the dealers inventory then call the dealer direct with the part number and have it shipped to your house.

The only thing I really hate about the JD parts site is when you find your part. Put it in the cart then the parts isn't available through the site. So then I have to call the dealer anyways.

Matt

I have tried twice to order parts online. Both times it looked good but when I called the dealer to verify parts arrival, they were clueless. I have to assume they just aren't internet savvy enough. Heck for that matter back when I was shopping for the 2520, emails requesting information never got answered either!

I use JD Parts and find it very helpful. My dealer is not far so I can just drive there with the part number and drawing to get the correct part. However, one time I tried ordering a $500 yard trimmer through the site figuring I would save a trip. The site confirmed my order and payment, and said the local dealer would contact me when it arrived. After about three weeks I called the dealer. The parts people said they did not handle Internet stuff and knew nothing about it. They told me to call later and ask for so-and-so who was the Internet guy. After a few days and several calls without making contact I talked to the manager. He looked things up and found the order. Even though he tried to say something like it was probably in process, it was clear nothing had been done, so he pushed the order through. When it came in just a couple days later of course they said they had no way to show that I had already paid for it on the Internet, so I paid again. At least the first charge never showed up on my account. So I will never use their on-line ordering again. I'll just drive to the store.

I have not been able to understand how to use the parts store to find & price parts for attachments.
