A few days ago, I whined about our entering another dry summer, here in my part of the gulf south. Well, not that one week changes a weather pattern, but the effects of tropical storm Allison have seen some pretty hefty rain amounts across the region. 20+ inches Saturday night in Houston. And, I've emptied my rain gage for just under 14 inches total since last Monday, and one of those days it was at the brim [5 in.] so I don't have a good reading for that day. My property is high, for SE Louisiana, so no danger of my place flooding, but everything is pretty soggy. My okra is under water, but that's my fault for placing it where I did. The rest of the garden is not showing any ill effects, yet. Sure could use a few days to dry out. Local rivers are at capacity, or already out of their banks.
There is another wave headed this way tonight. Should be interesting.
