Hydrostatic vs Non

If you are trying to decide between a hydrostatic and gear transmission for your tractor, think of the letter "L", when it comes to when the hydro is better: 1) Lawnmowing 2) Loader work 3) Landscaping 4) Ladies 5) Lazy folks.

If you or your usage don't fall into those 5 categories then you might be best served with a gear transmission.

Got to love the whining noise and extra heat from a HST. I own two and jumping on one of my antique gear tractors is pure pleasure. Just got a new Kubota yesterday, you would think with today's technology HST would be more quiet.

My tractor is used mainly as a loader , off road fork lift . I couldn't imagine driving a manual in and out of all the tight spaces on my property and control a load. we have a manual nursery fork lift at our shop and I avoid it like the plague. {clutch is iffy , brakes work some times] that don't help.:drink:

Mine quieted down considerably when I upgraded to the Super UDT hydro fluid at my 400 hour maintenance... at about 25 bucks/gallon. I bought the tractor used with 180 hours so have no idea what was in it before.

This is a LX2610 and it ships with Super UDT2. Manual says filter changes at 50 - 200 - 400 hours but oil doesn't get changed until 400. Same tractor as B2650 and it looks like others indicate HST noise.
