What is best practice when checking fluid level on bx. FEL cylinders retracted and bucket flat on ground and 3pt down?

You could measure the level with all the cylinders extended and then with everything retracted to see how much difference shows up in the level.

Let us know, I would be curious, but not enough to go check on my own BX.

I always have checked fluid with all cylinders retracted. On a BX it probably doesn’t matter but move to a large TLB and you can see the difference. Fully extend those big cylinders then fill to the full mark and when you retract the cylinders watch how fluid runs out the top of the reservoir. Don’t ask how I know.

if i recall correctly, my industrial shows front bucket fully dumped and on ground. stabilizers down and hoe turned fully to side.

It does make a difference. Check fluids and top up fluid with loader on the ground and 3 pt down.

If you then lift the loader to max height and check the fluid, it will show low. Do not add or will be overfilled once the loader comes down.

I pulled that gem on my forklift once. Man, never saw a geyser shoot so high through the vent orifice.

I don't know if this is specific to Terramite backhoes, but their owner's manual says to put the bucket and outriggers down, but to raise the boom and digging bucket.
