Hydro Trans Question?

I am wondering how the hydro trans work on tractors. Is there a torque converter like in a car or is it a hydralic pump that turns a motor like in a hydro post hole digger?

Just curious!

The hydro is an engine driven pump powering a hydraulic motor or motors.
