I'm new to this site....have a yanmar ym2010 with non-functioning hydraulics....fluid level is ok....no apparent leaks and color, smell, consistency, etc appears normal....lost use of back blade and front bucket all at once....suspect a bad pump.....any ideas?

thanx.....

Crack your pressure line somewhere down it and see if you have a flow or spray of fluid. This will tell you if the pump is bad or sheared.

I have already opened the lines coming out of the pump.....there was no leakage.....could it be anything else, e.g. the controls under the seat?

thanx....

Is the hyd fluid correct? If you have a reservoir full of fluid, and the pump is good, then if you crack or remove a hose off the pump pressure side, fluid should come out. If fluid is missing, then no fluid to flow. If shaft is twisted off, no pumping action. Is there any water in the hyd fluid that might have froze. Check filter. I know it is touching 20 degrees here in North Florida at night .

This time of year I always suspect water in system and freezing. If you suspect this may be issue, get tractor in warm place and try again.

if it is the pump, can it be repaired....e.g. does it have a shear pin on shaft?

anything specific to be done with the fluid when removing the pump?
does it have to be drained?
is "bleeding" the system necessary when hooking back up?

thanks......

Did your system overpressure when things quit working. Like closing the stop valve or anything like that? Yes the pump has a key. Yanmar Tractor Parts: HYD. PUMP SHAFT KEY_ No, you do not have to drain the fluid to remove the pump. I believe if I were you I would drain the fluid and check the strainer before pulling the pump, especially if you did not experience any over pressuring.
