Hydraulics system over heat light appears on my john dear 6330 tractor

Hi all,
I am having problems with my John dear 6330 tractor. The hydraulic system overheat light has come on and I have replaced all hydraulic filters, transmission filters and am now thinking it could be a faultily sensor. Has this happened to anyone else or any other suggestions for what else could be wrong.

You might check all relief valve, and the hyd radiator if you have one.

Next time the light comes on, stick one of those long stem cooking thermometers in the hyd tank and check the temp.

Look in your manual for the temp that causes the light to activate.

Could be a bad sensor, but you are just guessing. Sensors can be very expensive, and that might not fix it.
Have you checked with the service manager at your local dealer? He might know of similar problems on other tractors.

I suggest that you post your question in the John Deere section of the forum. There will be more JD owners reading there than in hydraulics.

A hand held temp gun with a laser pointer might give you an idea of the temps you have. You could check external lines, filter housings, oil cooler etc.

One note on the IR temp gun - Do not take readings from chromed or plated parts, they will give you a bad reading. Anything made of rubber, plastic or painted with non-metalic paint is good. Also be aware that the farther away from the target they larger the area you are measuring.

If that model has a sump screen and you haven't checked it, it could be the problem.
