Hello everyone, working on my JD 2240 today . Putting the bushings in the rock shaft lift arms. Just wondered if any one else has ever done this, and if the new bushings took the play out or if the shaft may need replaced.

I would recommend checking shaft for wear & replace shaft if any wear can be detected. I was taught when I attended JD branch service schools to only replace L/D bushings if wear could be detected in bushings. Do you have L/D control handle under seat in minimum or "D"? When replacing draft links using shim washers to remove side to side movement of L/D shaft.

Bushings in the arms that come directly off the Rock shaft is what I'm working on. Already replaced all load control shaft bushings & seals.

I served as a JD dealer service manager from '74-'87 & never saw or heard of the rockshaft bushings requiring replacement. I think R&R of those bushings would be fairly simple once rockshaft housing has been removed from trans case & rockshaft removed from the housing
