I finally decided to go ahead and buy a hydraulic thumb for my L35. I'm in the Catskills and there is just so much rock all puzzled together it would be great to be able to pinch down on a big flat rock and slide it up out of the clay like pulling bread from a toaster rather than digging all around it and making a big mess of rocks. Lots of other uses as well such as cutting up trees but mainly for the tons of rocks in my area. Anyway I'm willing to spend the money for a hydraulic one but do not know too much about installing the hydraulics and what is the best available. There are currently no auxilary hydraulic connections on the machine anywhere. I don't have a lot of time to make modifications and stuff so want to buy the correct item that will be the easiest to install.
Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who possibly sells a whole kit specifically for this machine? (Thumb, cylinder, hoses, valve.) Does Kubota themselves offer this kit?
Also, Does anyone know if there is room for the extra hoses to go through the boom to get to the cylinder? I'm not going to be in any huge hurry closing the thumb so wondering if smaller hoses could be used for this than the normal ones.
I'm new at welding so do realize I'll need to get someone in to help with that part.
