hydraulic system \"strainer\"

I'm planning on putting all new fluids in my new to me ym135. My service manual says to clean out the strainer for the hydraulic system.....but makes no mention of where it is located. Where should I look? The same book says to refill with John Deere 303 oil or equivalent. Is this regular 10wt hydraulic oil?

Re: hydraulic system \"strainer\"

On my 1700.. the screen is under a triangular cover on the center section.. your -may- be in a similar area.. look around the trans to diff area for a removeable plate.. may have a line going to it.

303 fluid is NOT plain 'jack oil' hydraulic fluid... it is a UTF type fluid.

UTF fluids are for use in common sump transmissions, diffies, final drives, hydraulic systems.. some wet brakes, power steering.. etc.

Again.. my 1700 is a common sump rear end/tranny/hyds.. etc.

Tractor supply sells a Universal Tractor Fluid.. etc. ( hence U T F )
