I thought I was saving money by using the Tractor Supply Co. Permatran-III equivalent but now I'm starting to wonder if that is the reason I hear a nasty squealing/screeching noise when the hydraulics are under load or run to the stops. I assume it is a relief valve squealing but I don't remember hearing the nosies previously with the factory fluid or right after I changed it. I've put about 60-hrs on w/ the TSC fluid and I'm really noticing the noise now (could the bargain fluid be degrading already?). Maybe it has always made the noise to some degree but it is more noticeable now (unless my hearing has somehow suddenly improved).

I checked the hydro sight-glass and the fluid level is fine and it makes the noise even if the fluid is warm or cold. There also doesn't seem to be any loss of lifting capacity or power.

I really don't feel like changing the fluid now (it's getting a little chilly to be laying on the floor covered w/ the stinky hydro-fluid), but will likely change it in the Spring before the recommended interval is up (if it is the fluid causing the noise).

The warranty was up last month, so hopefully it is nothing mechanical :(

I appreciate any input.

John

Check to ensure that your mower/3pt lever is not stuck in either the raise or lower position.

does kind of sound like a relief valve issue.

i put synthetic in the engine for the winter, but the hydro oil doesn't have that many hours on it and i don't plan on using the 2410 very much this winter.

some hydraulic systems do seem to be noisier when its cold.

maybe i'll go synthetic for the hydro next winter.

It has made the noise w/ the deck on and the deck off. Also, the lever "kicks" back to the center position once it raises all the way up, but thanks for the suggestion.

I put a cheaper hyd fluid in a new MF596 and it shut everything down, changed it and put massey back in and everything started working again. Im a firm believer in putting product oil in my equipment. JMO:thumbsup:

Some have reported issues with the generic hydraulic oil, and some have not.

Permatran is a very good product, it is not the same as the generic. It has additives that keep things cool, and quiet.

The only 2 products I can say for sure you won't have issues with based on many users in this forum, are Permatran, and the Amsoil ATH synthetic.

I recommend the Amsoil, but it costs about twice what the Permatran does, so I assume you won't be going that route.

Your stinking orange and brown football team beats the Patriots (I was actaually happy to see it) and you think you know it all, so you assume I'll go the cheaper route twice, but that's assuming a lot...

That being said, I'll probably go the cheaper route and get the Massey Permatran-III :)

Thanks for the input and I hope changing the fluid is the remedy.

I've used nothing but Permtran III in my 2610 and have the same squeal. I acutally had the valve go bad and it had to be replaced. The new valve has squelled since day one and I do not have the same lift capability as the old valve. I'm really considering going with a different brand of tractor.

I don't think it's fair to say we beat the Patriots. We actually totally kicked their backends! It was hilarious!

And don't forget, we also beat the Saints.

The free pass when you play us twice a year, is pretty much over now, you're going to have to earn it.

I can't wait to beat those neanderthals, knock them out of the playoffs, and make Hienz Ward cry AGAIN. That was the most fun ever!!!!

I think it was more like the Patriots beat themselves.....we're better than last sunday, Brady stunk!

Remember your only 3 & 5....

That's called denial.

Using that logic no team can ever beat any other team. They can only "beat themselves".

When David slayed Goliath, did Goliath also "beat himself"?

Sometimes the opposition completely throws you off your game. When that happens, you can flounder. Part of the game; you were soundly beaten.

Even your saint Belchachick said: "They [Cleveland] were definitely the better team". "They [Cleveland] outplayed us in every category". First time Cleveland fans agreed with him.

Sorry, if the truth is hard to handle. You have no idea what it's like to lose. Try being a Cleveland fan. You couldn't handle it.

You need not get cocky, no one here believes 2010 is our year. We really don't expect to win, so we really don't care if we lose.

You have no idea how much fun it is being the underdog spoiler. Especially when your opponents cry like little girls when they lose!

Not to stay off the OP's original topic....

You definately have a point Ray, Cleveland was clearly the better team sunday, my point was that NE was off.
Belichick was right, the Browns were the better team.....sunday.:ashamed:

After being Sox fans for my entire life, I understand about being used to losing, and yes, your day will come as Red Sox Nation found out.

The Pats did not win much until Belichick came in 2000, which was Cleveland's loss and our gain.

Oh well, continued fun with your MF and we'll see you on the field!

You don't realize we lost nothing, he was fired for good reason.

That forced him to change is attitude, and his style. Without that, you would not have wanted him either.

I have been running the TSC hydro oil in my 1533 now with 800hrs with 0 problems.

Thanks for the input. I also read that someone using Permatran III has the same annoying squeal in their GC, so it seems to be more of a tractor/part issue than a hydro fluid brand issue. I'm going to talk to my dealer to see if he thinks the sound is an issue other than just being annoying.

It figures, stuff like this always happens to me a month or two out of warranty. The eletronic brake control module went out on my car a few months after the extended warranty expired...

At least you fans of the expansion Cleveland Browns can hang your hat on the fact that they did have that one winning seasoning...but shucks, they still didn't make the playoffs....also, I'm pretty sure those are tears of joy from Hines Ward after winning his second Super Bowl ring.

It's always the same ol' hype every year. So do you really think Couch, I mean Holcomb, I mean Garcia, I mean Dilfer, I mean Frye, I mean Anderson, I mean Quinn, I mean Wallace, I mean McCoy is actually going to make a difference? In my opinion, nope...

Man, I am having trouble with my keyboard today.

Yes, everyone knows we don't know what it is like to win a super bowl.

I do know you get the last draft pick, the hardest schedule, and very high expectations for a reward.

So,I am happy with our role for now.

We send all the babies that whine about not being in the playoffs every year, to pittsburgh. We are the best fans in football, we can handle it. Our day will come.

BTW, that was your hero crying after we beat him last year, Google it if you want to know the truth. Too bad your Pits media hid it from you, or you would already know about it.

Wining as the underdog is always good, maybe it will put a few more fans in the Browns side of the stadium. Anyway, I think the Patriots deserve a little thanks for letting the Browns win at least one.
Go Patriots!

Sorry, didn't mean to contribute to the hijack.
