Hydraulic question on a Ford 3000 with 720 Loader

The hydraulic specs said it holds 5.25 gallons. I guessed I did not loose all the fluid so I put 4 gallons in only. I did not see anywhere where it said how to check if the fluid is topped off.

level check plug.

A little overfill is ok, makes up for using large SA hyds.. but too much overfill will lead to pto and axle seal leaks.
