putting a new pump on tomorrow, just wanted to get some recommendations on ensuring the pump is properly primed and fluid is full, lost all fluid when the pump broke. thanks

i used compressed air into the vent w the suction line cracked slightly

Well with the sump higher than the pump, it's gravity feed when the pump's not turning. Install your pump normally, refill the sump, but don't put the ven/fill plug back on just yet. That will permit better venting to get fluid to the pump. Then loosen the supply line at the pump until gravity drains fluid from the sump and through the supply line. When it starts running out at the pump, tighten the supply line back up.

Then loosen the pump's output line slightly, and turn the motor over by hand. That will draw fluid THROUGH the pump so the engine isn't starting a dry pump. When you get fluid out the output port, tighten that up too. At that point you should be able to start the engine and let horsepower push the rest of the air out of the system. Don't forget to replace the vent/fill plug on the sump.
