Did you bleed all the air from the system? Maybe control valve jammed.

Have you taken any pressure readings? A flow meter would help also.

Just back tracking a little on this subject. If a hyd pump has gone bad, then you need to change out the fluid and filter. On a variable speed pump, there is a charge pump that keeps the main pump full and pushes the fluid through the pump case to help cool it. On my VSP pump, we have a bleed screw and hose that we use to expel air. We do this by disabling the engine from starting, and turning the engine over for about 10 sec at a time to expel all the air out of the pump and hoses. Your procedure may be a little different, but you have to find a place to let air out , and perhaps install a hyd gage in the pump circuit. If the pump is above the reservoir, it will not prime itself.

Balard1, I sent you a PM the day you first posted this, must not have noticed it. Give me the model number & serial number of the excavator so I can see which pump & control system it has. From your explanation yoy just remvoed the pump to gain access to a fitting and reinstalled the pump. More than likely you have trapped air in the servo/pilot control system that needs to be bled out. First make sure the hydraulic reservoir is filled to the full mark or slightly overfull then:
Start machine and let run for about 5 minutes, put the left arm rest down to activate the joystick handles - left arm rest console has saftey switch in it than activates & deacitvates all pilot controls (joysticks) when it is rasied. pull up on the blade lift and hold it - blade should lift. If blade does not lift you will need to call your closest dealer. If blade works, both forward and reverse drive should work. Then with engine running move each joystick in each fo 4 directions and hold it until some movement is noticed, move on to next function until all 4 directions of each joystick works, then just keep working the sytem for a few minutes to remove last amount of air.

If your excavator is model 334 or smaller and over 5 years old the travel and blade functions are mechanically controlled, not affected by the left console switch. If it is a higher model number or newer than 5 years the travel is also servo controlled and left console saftey switch locks out travel too.
