Hydraulic problem on 755 compact tractor

Hey Guys, I just bought a 755 diesel 2 wd w hydrostatic everything. The unit had been sitting for several years. I put a battery in it and it cranked right up! When I cranked on it at first the hydraulic lever was up and the rear 3 pt was going up. I lowered it and after it started and smoothed out the hydraulics were working and the steering was working but slow. Now it does nothing . Is there a clutch for the hydraulic pump or safety switch? Perhap the filter or screen is clogged? I haven't changed the filter yet and is the screen behind the filter or in another location? Also I read somewhere that the pto wont engage unless the engine rpms are over a certain speed. Is this true? Thanks in advance Dave

The screen is directly below the rear PTO shaft. It's behind the fitting where the main supply pipe exits the rear cover.

The PTO has an interlock which require the operator to be in the seat before it will engage.
