Hydraulic \"pop-off\"?

Twice now, one upon startup last winter at -8 and just today, about two quarts of hydraulic oil pukes out some where to the front of the engine (4310 HSTC w/LA681 FEL) and catches the fan and flies all over. Shutting it down, adding oil and everything is ok. Can not find the origination of the oil as everything is dripping and nothing is spewing after shut down.

As I said, the initial occurrence was last winter and I thought possibly ice/snow had accumulated holding some valve open. Today, just pulling overseeder at about 2,000 rpm with about 20 minutes of operating time.

Is there a pressure relief system somewhere in that area?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Re: Hydraulic \"pop-off\"?

Probably something different than I ran into. On a WheelHorse 520H I had an oil leak in the winter. The problem ended up being the oil dipstick doubled as a vent. It was hollow on the insde and somehow it got bent. I reopened the hole and haven't had a problem since. It might be something to check.
