Does your SS have an oil cooler? Not sure if they are standard equipment on that model. If yes is it plugged so that air isn稚 flowing through it?

I just checked the service manual and it does have an oil cooler. I thought that was an engine radiator. I'll check it. There could have been enough snow on it. Do you think this might be related to the 600 psi back pressure I was getting in the aux lines?

I checked the oil cooler and it looks fine, ie the fins are clean and there is no debris on them. Are you suggesting it might be internal? If so how do I check that? And thanks for the help. It is appreciated.

If the fins are clean then the air flow should be cooling the oil. Run the blower for a few minutes and see if the lines going into the cooler gets hot and the line coming out should be cooler. I would be very surprised if this cooler does not have a by-pass valve. Possible this is stuck open so the oil is not flowing through the cooler.

Possible the oil passages in the cooler are plugged but this would be an uncommon occurrence. Checking the in an out temp should tell you if there is oil flow.

OK, I'll check that tomorrow after I get back from the Doc's. Got some day surgery happening.

Don't be surprised it WILL get hot.

How do you get flow to the remotes do you have to hold a button or is there a an on/off switch? Do you have access to flow/pressure gauges to test your machine?

Two ways to get flow to remotes; 1) a left / right toggle and 2) constant flow with a push button. The safety bar has to be down for the remotes to be engaged and I think I have to be seated in the machine. There is a switch under the seat.

I don't have flow gauges but I do have a pressure gauge.

I'm wondering if the back pressure issue and the heat issue are related and maybe caused by plugged case drains. Does this make sense. I've never checked them since I've had the machine. I've put about 200 hrs on it. It appears to me that the hydraulic fluid has to be drained from the system in order to check the case drains. Is that right?

If you don't mind, can we continue this in the other thread I started that is more related to this issue.http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/392094-bobcat-763-help.html
