Satoh 1840 has a small lever under seat that you can flip left or right, has something to do with hydraulics. Has an adjustment screw and once I messed with it it started leaking fluid, no matter what position it was in. Originally 3 point worked, it stopped working after stopping and restarting tractor, not even attempt to lift or make any noise. Messed with this lever adjustment and it would work some then started leaking. There is one small o ring on the plunger, just don't know what the proper adjustment procedure or purpose is?

This is the lever I'm referring to, "this is not my tractor pic". I don't have the exact model service manual, so I don't know the adjustment procedure.

You are likely describing the 3 point lowering valve adjustment. It controls how fast the 3 point will lower, to the point of locking.
Sounds like it needs to be replaced.

The handle does look like the three point control. I have no idea what your "adjustment screw" would be. The control should not affect the three point lift. At one extreme it should prevent the three point from lowering from the control. At the other extreme the three point will drop in an uncontrolled manner. One usually uses some midpoint to lower the three point at a selected speed.
