Yanmar F14D
Hello guys. I have just taken over a Yanmar F14D and I am having some issues with the hydraulics. When I try to use the 3-point hitch either raising or lowering, I get intermittent power. The hydraulic / gearbox oil was changed before I took over it. The hydraulic hoses appear to still be the original and are cracked so may be perished inside too. I was going to approach the problem as follows:

1. Disconnect all hydraulic hoses. Replace them
2. Remove the hydraulic locking valve under the seat and give it a thorough clean.
3. Remove the directional control valve for the cylinder as the top link has been replaced with a hydraulic cylinder. Give it a thorough flush and clean.
4. Remove the hydraulic pump and give it a good clean and flush.
5. Replace hydraulic filter and clean oil screen.
6. Change hydraulic / gearbox oil (if necessary).

Anything that I've missed here?
I can't see that the pump is bad as it is acting like there is a blockage in the oil intake or at one of the valves. It may also be some delamination of a hydraulic hose so I think this will eliminate most issues.

I would start by cleaning the hydraulic screen first and also check the condition of the oil since it has to be drained anyway.

Follow the suction line from the pump all the way to the transmission housing and the screen should be there.

Hi Sam,
The F14 Manual can be found on the YTOG for free.
YANMAR F14 F15 PARTS MANUAL NPC-1464.pdf
Before taking the hydraulic system apart, please check out sections 124 & 125 for the UFO.

Yanmar tractors with UFO needs to be set in manual mode operation for normal use.
If the F14 has the original rotary tiller, then the UFO is very useful.

Additionally, the correct hydraulic fluid has to be used, else the system will gunk up.

In Europe,

Mannol UTTO WB 101 meets J20C specifications.
From the testing, Mannol Multi UTTO WB 101 meets J20C and not J20D.
There are not many fluids meeting J20D.

See 3rd party testing and evaluation per claims.
https://ukla-vls.org.uk/wp-content/...-publication-notice-as-at-06-10-2023-v0.2.pdf

Likewise, for many European regions, SCT's Mannol UTTO WB 101 is accessible.
The fluid also meets the strict CATERPILLAR TO-2, the base line for J20C.

Some of the F14/F15 tractors have an oil basin for the air filter. Do check this out.

F14 Hyd. screen is showing to be a Spin on Filter! HF-1120.
I do show A filter screen also for the "F-16 only and the ym180-2002". Is there two on the F-14 ? Interesting.

Wow, thanks for all the input gents - I am genuinely impressed with all the help. I have been struggling with some herniated disks so I purchased the tractor to help with hauling firewood and snow removal so in it's current state it's not much help.

I'll dig in and do some research. I'm guessing removal of the screen will result in the fluid draining out.
