hydraulic fluid leaking from top of steering column john deere 2020

I have an early john Deere 2020 that had a power steering pump and an open center steering column.
The pump failed so I put a closed center column on it and hooked it up to the main hydraulic pump
The steering works fine but there is a small stream of oil coming out of the top of the steering column.
can this be fixed without removing the steering column?

You could try replacing top seal under steering wheel but IIRC to solve oil leak I think you're going to have to replace a deeper o-ring.
