Put new pump on my Kama TS254 and filled reservoir-----which is stacked higher than tranny. Hydra fluid now coming up from bottom of shift lever. I thought the two different reservoirs were internally separated. Could something inside have busted when the pump cracked???

Can you post a picture of your tank?
On a Jinma 254 (which I think is the same thing) the hydro tank is under the seat above the rear diff/transmission. There is nothing in common between the two so there should never be any mixing. IF the bottom of the Hydro tank broke it could leak into the differential but that would be about the only thing I could think of.
I am guessing your pump is engine mounted and no where near either the transmission or the hydro tank.
What year is your tractor?

They are separate. That really should not be happening. Is it coming out as you raise and lower the lift? You replaced the pump on the pto, the one on the back of tractor?
