I replaced my air, fuel and oil filter on my 3054 when I rebuilt it. Of course I changed all the fluids also. All I did to the hydraulic filter was wash it out because it is a metal screen type filter. Are they supposed to be replaced? If so at how many hours?

That filter is scheduled for change very 200 hours, after the first 50 hour break-in service when new.

I have an 850 JD tractor with the metal screen type hydraulic filter. I have never changed the screen, I just wash it/clean it out.

The filter in question doesn't have a removable cleanable screen. It's just a metal filter as I remember, and may not clean out completely with just washing out like the removable screens.

John - the hyd screen in 3054 tractors is a cleanable screen..... no replacement needed unless damaged... this also goes for the LB1914 tractors...

That's good to know. I've never seen one get its service and mine has the other type. I've always liked cleanable screens, which were always the norm on the older pieces.

Thanks Jon

And 2554, 1714.........are reusable too.

2202-2204-2214-2614 all were non-reusable...well in theory anyway.
LOL
I've seen people reuse alot of "non-reusable" stuff.

The original CK20 HST owner's manual stated to clean the HST filter, not replace it, but that was not correct as it has no screen. I don't know if the new manuals reflect that as they didn't want to pay for me to redo that one. I did correct it in the CK25/30 manual though.

Thanks Jon,
I thought you had told me that. I was going to call you today over the matter just to be sure. I am still trying to put together my odds and ends list. If it would ever quit raining here in Middle TN I might get a chance to use my tractor and finish putting it thru its paces so I would know what I needed to order.
