I'm new to tractors, just in beginning stages of shopping. I need help understanding what hydraulic cat. What is cat.1 or cat. 2 I was told for what I was looking for to stay with cat. 1 Please help. Thanks. Dave

The CAT specs are really for implement/tractor sizes, nothing really to do with hydraulics.

HERE is a general explanation of the specs for each.

Category 1 is standard for estate tractors and utility tractors. Category 2 implements are bigger, with larger pin diameter. They are used for commercial farming and heavy construction. Their size and hardware make them incompatable with category 1 tractors. Category 0/1 (category 1 with category 0 spacing) is also fairly common. They use category 1 pin size, but are narrower for use on subcompact tractors.
