I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the front end loader/3 point hitch on my Kubota L3400 were a bit slow to respond. In addition, my power steering seemed a little weak. I continued to run the tractor despite these issues and eventually the hydraulic system failed (the bucket and hitch dropped to the ground). The engine was not overheating, but there seemed to be an incredible amount of heat coming from under the seat/brakes/clutch. Upon further inspection I could see where hydraulic oil had been spraying from the suction line (the hose that makes a 90 degree turn located under the brakes).
Obviously, the suction line has to be replaced. I'm just thinking that it is likely that I damaged the hydraulic pump/other components of the system. Would it be worth replacing the hose myself and topping it off with fluid or should I go ahead and take it in to a get the hydraulic system assessed? Any ideas on how much damage I did and how much this blunder could potentially cost me?
