Oil & Fuel Hydralic Fluid

OK guys. Please help... What is the proper fill level for the hydraulic fluid in a Mitsubishi D2000ii? I have one guy telling me I was having problems with it because it was low on fluid, another telling me it was because it was over-filled. Turns out the cap was loose and water got in. Since fluid has been drained out and added at different times, I don't know how much should me in there to begin with.

Now that I have it empty, how much do I need to put back in and have it right?

I'm not up to snuff on that model. Do you know if there is a separate reservoir for the hydraulics and trans/rear? If it is one common reservoir there should be a fill level plug on the side of the case. My little tractors are 15 & 18 hp roughly and hold around 3.5 gallons. Take the screen out and clean it good.

Thanks for the reply, oliver28472. I could only find one plug on the side of the case. I removed that and drained just under 5 gallons. I just went out and looked again, don't see any plug at a higher level.

In addition to cleaning the screen, it isn't a bad idea to run a round magnet (the telescoping kind work good) into the screen slot while it's out and pick up any other residual metal particles that you normally can't get to.

My tractors have two plugs on the bottom for draining and the fill level plug on the side. Mine have a tube screen that has a flat round cover held on by two bolts.

The screen is generally in the supply line going to the pump from the transmission case. It may come out when you disconnect the supply pipe or it may attach from the opposite side of the feed pipe on the case. I'm not familiar with your particular tractor.
