HYD QUICK ATTACH GAUGE WHEELS

/ HYD QUICK ATTACH GAUGE WHEELS #51
Thanks Rob,
I agree casters are NICE for the implements that we make (relatively) sharp turns with.
I think the only one I do that with regularly is the mower and by design that rides on a rear roller anyway.
I think everything else gets lifted while I turn, certainly the tiller does.

All this wouldn't matter with the sort of short axle arrangement I had in mind.
Basically I was thinking of bringing a bar forward from each of the axle's spring pads and connecting them with a trailer coupler. By putting that on a ball the gauge wheels would follow the center of the implement.

Ahhh, the tricky bit - for depth adjustment a standard WDH into a receiver mounted in the center of the implement.
The length of the adjustment chains provide the depth adjustment (short term, I'm sure they could be replaced with hydraulics at a later date).

The BIGGEST advantage is that I wouldn't have to do much more "machine" work than drill a few holes and hack-saw a couple of bars to length. Everything bolts together and I can try it out with trailer bits I already have laying around.

Crude ?
Sure, but it MIGHT work (-:
