What type of hy/trans fluid do most of you use and could someone tell me the capacity of the Hy/trans system of a YM2000? Thanks Ken

Any Hy/tran fluid compatible with the JD 303 standard. I use John Deere fluids cause JD used Yanmar engines and I figuere the stuff they recomend for their engines would work in mine. I have been thinking about synthetic hy/tran fluid like Amsoil. It sounds like it would improve winter powershift performance.

I started a thread with little response about this. I have seen Tf300 spec on some tractors and TF 500 on others. I still would like to know if JD 303 will replace both or if there is two different types. My YM1820 with powersteering whines since I put the new JD303 fluid in it.

Reed, if you just changed the fluid, you may have air in the system and need to bleed it. On a car you would jack up the front wheels, and, engine off, turn the wheels back and forth several times, without bottoming, to purge the air. I imagine a tractor is similar.

I assume it is stock. It is totally contained in the steering box,(no external cylinder). There is only a block under the hood to divert flow from the pump. It uses the same pump as the lift. I have seen a Mitsubishi with a unit like this.
