Hy-tran fluid alternative?

I have a Cub Cadet 149 that I want to change the hydrostatic fluid in. Does anyone know a brand and type of hydraulic oil that replaces the Hy-tran fluid called out for in the owners manual? Thanks for your help.

Hi 149owner,If you want to go to synthetic,Amsoil makes a good synthetic tractor hydraulic /transmission fluid.(iso 46, SAE 30) It's about $6 cnd. a litre.I can't remember the cost for Hy-Tran,but it's pricey aswell.

I don't know anything about the 149, but I have a 7360. I recently went to the local CC dealer for hytran fluid, but he was out of 5 gallon jugs. He sent me to the local auto parts store. He said it's standard stuff and I didn't need to buy the CC fluid. I ended up buying at at the nearby Kabot dealer. Fortunately the fluid wasn't red. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Hytran is/was the IH Brand name, any decent hyd fluid will work.
