I did a YouTube fix on the fuel solenoid (basically taking it out of the loop)
and the engine now starts and runs fine. BUT, and I gotta believe it's related,
when I take the brake off the engine quits. Is there some circuit that needs
to be reconnected to the solenoid? I'm no electrical whiz. Thanks.

I would be leaning more toward loosing spark due to the seat switch not detecting somebody in the seat.

I'm leaning toward the brake switch but need to find my multimeter to check continuity. It doesn't look like a
just snap in and out piece so I want to check it first. Fortunately, no big snow predicted.

While holding the brake down engage the pto and see if it keeps running or dies.

Releasing the brake or engaging the pto and having the engine die most of the time is due to a problem with the seat switch.

How about if I disable the switch like I saw in a YouTube video?

You can disable for testing but is wise to put it back in for actual safety use. Be aware that some switched are always open and others are always closed, and some have both in the same switch. Also on some you cannot just unplug the switch since some of the wiring harnesses have self shorting plugs built into the connector.

All 3 switches associated with this have been replaced. Same thing happens: let off the parking brake, it dies. Pull the PTO, it dies.
I have a multimeter - where do I start? I checked whatever I could for electrical connections and don't find any obvious connectors
not connected.
