Fingers cross Henri doesn't turn out to be like Irene we had couple years or so back.

Looks like Long Island and CT Coast line New Haven area is where it lands now - then maybe it will head east our way or north who knows - but Thomas Lebanon may be far enough north not to see too much!

Test ran the genny this am so were ready!

We're 100 or so miles north of Thomas, so it looks like most of it will miss us entirely, though one projected path shows it going right over us though most show it making a sharp turn to the east somewhere in southern N.H./Vt.

Yesterday's forecast had the eye going right over us, but today it's moved to the west. I spend some time today putting all the loose objects in the house, screwing shut the barn doors and checking gas on the chainsaw. Also filled the freezer with tubs of water and filled some 5 gallon buckets with water in case we lose power. The house is about 15' above sea level so we should be above the storm surge.

I lived in Coastal Florida for too many years to get involved with all the panic and hysteria. The storm will come, the rain will fall, the water will rise and the wind will blow. It gets you or it misses you then it goes away. If you are not prepared already it is too late now

Some storms can be serious, and no one should take them lightly.
But with big tech and corporate media constantly sending alerts for adverse weather sponsored by people who sell bottled water, generators and plywood, it’s so obvious it’s overblown because it’s very profitable.
FEAR is profitable

Isn't the NE coast rocky? I would think colder water and a few cliffs would reduce a hurricane to wind and rain. One of the standing jokes here on the West Coast is, "If your grandmother can drive 60 mph through a 60 mph southwester without blinking, you know you are from the Oregon Coast." It goes with designing your kids' Halloween costumes to fit over rain gear.

I can see a hurricane being a problem in the SE, where rain just sits there because it's so flat, and you have to go miles inland to escape the storm surge.
