Made the big generator purchase this year...haven't wired a bypass to the box yet so I guess we're running extension cords this time. Other than that just need to top of a couple non-ethanol gas cans and we're set.

Yup.. still have all the gas from the last one that was supposed to get us, a week or 2 ago..
I forgot, I cut the grass yesterday.. I better go top off the can.. & fill the car..

I probably should have evacuated but we decided to stay. We are inland a ways so hopefully the worst will stay west of us.

This is the first time my diesel supplier let me down and couldn't make a delivery with two days notice. I should be okay though. I have about 3 days worth on hand and they should be be able to get to me by Friday. I filled the generator, both tractors, and four 5 gallon cans. My drums hold 5 gallons in the bottom of each one I can suck out with a small pump. That give me about 74 gallons and the generator uses less than a gallon per hour.

I filled my gas cans with ethanol free in case my daughter needs it for their gas generator.

Hurricane Michael Local Statement Advisory Number 15
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA AL142018

This product covers NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA

**Major Hurricane Michael making landfall on the Florida Panhandle
Today. Expected to cause significant impacts to much of central and
east Georgia through Thursday.**

OVERVIEW...

Hurricane Michael is a category 4 major hurricane and is expected to
make landfall along the Florida panhandle between noon and 3pm today
and then accelerate northeast over southwest and into middle Georgia
tonight. Please note that torrential rainfall, strong winds and
possible tornadoes will will affect much of north and central Georgia
this afternoon and this evening, well ahead of the arrival of the
center of the storm.

During the height of the storm, sustained winds of 25 to 45 mph will
be possible with gusts up to 70 mph across portions of central
Georgia, with the strongest winds roughly along and south of a line
from Columbus to Macon to west of Augusta.

Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are expected, with the
potential for locally higher amounts. An elevated risk of localized
flash flooding exists due to the heavy rain potential.

This will be worse than the last one....

I had 30 gallons of gas ready to go with the generator for Florence. Didn't need it so I used the gas up. It's raining like cats and dogs here now and predicted high winds this afternoon. Guess I need to go get some gas just in case. Hopefully I won't need it. 5" of rain and high wind is not good for power lines.

My 84 year old father-in-law lives in Mexico Beach. Last my wife talked to him, Tuesday night, he did not want to evacuate. Pretty sure his old single wide will not hold up to a cat 4. We have no idea if he left or not.

I will be getting supplies gathered the next few days so we can head that way when they open Hwy 98.
My prayers are with all impacted with this storm.

I hope everyone in that path posts here when they can.

I have friends that live there and it is a disaster. Last I heard only 2 died. I have a friend I grew up with that deployed with the New Orleans Fire Department and they are in MB and Panama City. They have all the gear and know exactly what they are doing. They are partnered with Tyndal AFB and others.

I'm told El Governor collapsed and Toucan's is gone.

This video is unreal..

Mex Beach was flattened and wiped clean by the storm surge. I wish your FIL good luck.

No real problems in Live Oak area.

Thank your friend for his service! The first responders are the best! All I can do is be prepared to head that way when the all clear is given.

Keeping the wife and sister-in-law calm while they don't know the fate of their father will be my largest challenge.

So glad you faired ok!

First Baptist Church in Live Oak bailed me and about 25 other collage students out of huge jam back in the day! We were on a trip in a old school bus and the transmission failed there. We were with Baptist Campus Ministries. I was the bus driver and I worked on that thing the whole trip. It decided it would not go any further once I got to Live Oak.

The church loaned us their bus and later sold it to us at a very fair price. I will never forget how wonderful everyone there was to us!
