Hopefully this storm just brings some much needed rain to the drought areas. Stay safe guys!

According to the news media, it's the GOP's fault and the Dem's are standing by to do damage control.

We gettin 45 to 60 mph winds in south MS right now and loads of rain, I feel it will be much worse on the bayous of LA. I agree that a cat 1 storm 10 years ago barely made the news, now it it top story on every channel down here.

It's too early to tell but from my recollections, a storm like this usually hits the mouth of the Mississippi River and then turns east and makes landfall in Mississippi causing little damage in the New Orleans area. We get the worst of the storm if it hits west of us. If I'm wrong, I may not be posting again for a while.

I sure wonder how Dudley is doing. The storm made landfall pretty much just to the west of him, so he was on the heavy rain side. I think he said he is about 12' above sea level in Westwego which is NW of Plaquemines Township where floods remain. I'm sure he lost power and probably telephone land lines too. Keep him and his family in your prayers, and we'll hope to hear from him soon.

Well I was wrong. Isaac headed a little more west and the eye passed over us and we got the worst part of the storm. We had much more rain before and during then we had in Katrina. The ground is like quicksand with trees falling over without much wind. I have an oak tree on my barn and a pecan tree on my house. Many trees down in the pasture. No power, phone, cable or internet. Traveling to another town to use the computer to post here.

Power surge took out my computer, surge protectors and air conditioner circuit board. Broke hydraulic hose on Kubota and floor jack trying to move tree off house and one chain saw fuel line melted from that darn ethanol. Thought I had run all the gas out of my generator a couple of years ago but everything is so gummed up I had to buy a new one. Lucky Lowe's opened up and had one left. Lines at gas stations that were open were 3 blocks long but I drained enough gas out my lawn tractor and truck to run the generator.

Wind blew the roof off my chicken coop but I never lost any chickens and my horses were safe in the barn even with a large hole in the roof. It is so hot and humid that some of my picture frames on the wall warped and my cholesterol pills melted.

A tree fell on my son's house and blocked his handicap ramp so he couldn't get out in his wheelchair (he has multiple slerosis). He got real sick Friday and I was cutting the tree away as quick as I could but almost had a heat stroke so we called the fire department and paramedics. They sent an ambulance but wouldn't take him to the hospital because they said they were only accepting life or death cases. Saturday the hospital said they would take him and we brought him in to find out he has pneumonia from the heat and humidity.

Many other little towns around here have much more flooding and damage then they had in Katrina. It is hard to believe a storm that barely made cat 1 could do this much damage. I sure wish that some of you who needed this rain could have gotten some. We have set many new rainfall records.

I haven't been able to get homeowners insurance since Allstate cancelled mine after Katrina and now it will probably be several more years before they start selling policies here but I am lucky I have savings and we will manage ok and we will survive. The storms can knock us down but they can't blow us away. This will make my cruise vacation in October that much more enjoyable.

Say a prayer for the many people down here who have it much worse off then we do.

Boy Dudley you really got hammered. Sounds like a real mess. Hope your son recovers quickly. We will be thinking of you.

holy cow tallyho - sounds like run a bad luck all at once. Wish I was closer, I'd be over in a heartbeat to help out clean up.
