I just purchsed a used Bx 1800 and I noticed there was a wire unpluged uner the seat so I pluged it in then a HST light came on , on the dash. THere is nothing in the owners manuel about this light. So, I unplugged. I think it may be a saftey switch to shut the blades off when you get off the seat. ANYONE KNOW????

you mean wire for the seat switch ? I find it odd it would turn a light on the dash for a seat switch. Are you sure its a seat switch or a extra power connector option? I am not aware of a HST light on my BX24 so the 1800 might be different but I don't see how since most BX's are very simalar. Any chance you could post a picture so there no doubt in my mind what you are referring to?

Congrats on the BX .
BXs are great.

I think read a post that said that connection is used for a transmission overtemp sensor on European versions of the BX. I guess Kubota feels the American machines never get hot!

The light is below all the quick check lights that they discuss in the OM , but it is there and it went out when I unplugged that wire under the seat. I was hoping that wire would shut down the blades when you got off the tractor and have forgotten to turn them off first.....

The unused wires under the seat (usually 2-3 wires depending on model) are not meant to be attached to each other. They are actually auxillary 12V power sources for running tow-behind sprayers, auxillary lights etc. Turn the key to the "on" position, and test leads with a volt meter to confirm this. I think it is great that Kubota pre-wired these for 12v add-ons.
Best of Luck!
