HST filter stuck good

Drill a hole through it. Tap a bar (mechanic's pry bar, in my case) in there and yarn it off. Doesn't work? Get a longer bar. Remember that business about Archimedes moving the world? It's unlovely and environmentally sketchy (wall to wall oil), but I know it works.

Carefully run a razor blade or knife around the filter mating surface.. where the rubber gasket meets the metal. Loosened my factory gorilla-installed filters enough to loosen with a strap wrench.

My go to tool for tough filters are as mentioned before my really big channel lock pliers,
unfortunatly many times there isn't room to use them.
My one tool that usually fits and works is a chain wrench, I have modified mine by adding a second section of chain to it so it would fit larger filters.

I have not meet many filters that it wouldn't remove.
