I have a B26 and it is due for the 200 hour oil change and HST filter change.
Did the oil change but I am wondering if I should pull the rear wheel to do the HST filter. Also should I do the vacuum trick on the filler hole? Is there a magnet on the HST filter. Don't want to end up with an oil pond.

Don't use the suction trick. The worst contaminates and water all to to the bottom or the housing where the drain plug is. The vacuum will only get most of the oil and what is leaves it the worst. Change the filter. Cheap insurance (even if the filter is not cheap).

To avoid the pond (been there more times than I want to admit):( check the capacity and make sure you have an open drain pan that is large enough to give a big area to hit when you pull the plug and has enough capacity.

I believe the "vacuum trick" he is talking about is a vacuum at the filler neck so that when you remove a filter or screen, no oil comes out.

I do not think he is refering to the vacuum pumps that change oil without removing the drain plug.

Deano

And yes Don, I would do the vacuum trick!

Thanks Deano that is what I was talking about.

I am gonna try it but I have the feeling this is gonna be a Hey Mo hey Larry moment.

What about removing the wheel I think it is worth the effort for better access.

About to do the 200 hr service on my BX25 and also plan on using the shop vac on the filler tube trick. Wish us both luck! I didn't think about removing the tire but might do that too since I also have a skid plate to work around.

So I changed the HST filter yesterday and all went well.
I did remove the wheel and think it was worth the effort. It was funny I had the jack out by the tractor when the light bulb went off. Oh yea I don't need the jack just a jack stand.
Didn't use the vacuum though I just parked on the side of a hill. Lost nothing but what was in the filter.
Because very little came out I had time to wipe the mounting surface off and take my time.
