How's everyone doing with the SNOW

I was going to rub it in that the mid Eastearn part of the US got hit hard, but winter in NH is not over, and I fear mother nature's wrath. So stay safe and warm everyone!

We got wholloped with 29". Cleared my 200' driveway with parking area, neighbor #1 350' driveway with parking area, neighbor #2 1/10 mile gravel driveway with parking area, and rescued another neighbor who got his truck stuck. Not bad for a 13 year old BX!

The great lake effect snow machine is keeping most Michigan members too busy to post!
60-70 inches since Wednesday here and I'm sure some in the U P have it worse.
Have fun out there!

None, nada, zip, nothing down here in the southern lower. We haven't had anything yet this winter other than brown grass and some iced over puddles. You can keep it. No issue.

28-30" here in NJ dug the ends of a lot neighbors out and dug out a stuck plow.

We got about 28". Hard to measure though, the way it was blowing it was hard to tell, we had a foot in some places and six feet in others. Neighbor and I always plow out the entire street, that's nine houses, but we are keeping a tradition alive. He owns a Bobcat. Sunday, he comes up and says HELP, I slid into a ditch, so I go down and pull him out. Ragged him about it all morning, KNOWING how Karma hates me! Yup, about 15 minutes before we were done, I have to walk over to him and say HELP!!! Bummer!

The problem with that snow is where to put it. I started to buy a blower over the summer, but decided against it. Sure would have been nice to be able to put it 50' from where I was!

The first picture is tough to tell anything unless you know how my driveway lays, but there are 4' and probably more drifts there. The second shows just after I started and you can see how deep some of it is.

IF you do end up buying/getting a blower, get the drift cutters that are available, too. If they aren't available then make some. They are only 1/4" flat steel about 30" long.

Sort of on the subject: I just learned how "official" snow fall depths are figured: the snow is measured on a clean surface, and when there's 6", it's cleaned off again, and so forth... the reason being that snow begins to compress as it gets deeper, and the 6" increments give an accurate overall total of what really fell. Sounds like a boring job?

About as exciting as watching paint dry.

I would disagree and say, removing every 6" so it doesn't compress gives an inflated overall total. To say it snowed 18" when there's only 13" on the ground.....
