Been about 5 days now . I 'd like to see an updated by op .

Rode by a couple times with the wife this past weekend but they were gone. Looks like they stay gone on the weekends. Thinking of inviting them over for dinner. We are good at throwing a shindig.

Maybe they are hiding behind a tree, to see, if the "lawn fairy" shows up again.

Unless they wanted it to grow up and cover up their meth lab operation ...

I would LOVE for my neighbor to come mow my lawn...and trim my bushes. Maybe some weed eating.

Say, if your not busy next week.......

I've already had one TBN'er visit my property and as soon as he get back from overseas I think he and I will be helpoing each other often.

I've had another exchange phone numbers and he was planning to visit WITH his TLB, but the other buddyhe was helping took longer.

I will just say this again,

ALL OF YOU are welcome to bring your tractors, chainsaws (Oh Lord I have a ton of trees down I did not know about until the last couple days), etc.

COME ON DOWN, I'll make coffee, buy beer, and find a way to feed you. I will also try to provide quality converation and company

I've got projects running out my ears!

I will never again be able to say "I have nothing to do"... :D

Be well,
David

Got some new neighbors. Neighbor beeing a relative term since where we are is very rural and houses or clusters of houses are pretty spread out.

One of the oldest houses in the county is less than a mile down the road from our place. Neat old house sits on 3 acres now. Rest of it sold off long ago and is all farmland around it. Some people have been trying to renovate it and flip it, two different sets of them, for several years. Housing crashed they abandoned it and it foreclosed. Needless to say it is pretty grown up. Lots of mature trees that he storms in April tore up pretty good and no one has cleaned it up.

A younger couple bought it. I noticed a couple of cars there for a couple of weeks and saw a moving truck unload there a couple of weeks ago. I stopped in one evening and introduced myself, gave them our number and me and my wifes name and welcomed them to the neighborhood. They had young children and told me they weren't letting them play outside much since it was so grown up. They had a smaller Snapper rider, but hadn't tackled the outside yet. This bugged me so this past Saturday I rode down with my tractor and bush hog. They weren't home, I thought about it and just went ahead and mowed most of it. Picked up the big limbs with the FEL and put them on a pile of limbs already started. They never came home before I left. I haven't been back down there.

Now I'm hoping I didn't freak them out. They aren't from around here or the country. I don't care to be thanked, but in hindsight I hope I didn't offend them. If they are city people they might not take it well someone was "invading their space" when they weren't there.

What say you, should I approach them again or let a sleeping dog lay.

I think I would get to know them. I would go and visit them, and tell them that "I hope you did not mind that I cut your grass for you. I dont expect anything for it, because I enjoy cutting grass, but will not do it anymore if you say so." If you feel like it, offer to cut it for them for free. It would possibly make for great neighbors.

A couple of years ago, we had a snow storm that dropped 15" of snow. That's the biggest snow fall I have ever seen here in the desert. I live about 1/4 mile off the paved road and had to plow it myself to get out. As I was finishing, I looked down the road to the next house where an old woman lives. I had seen the ambulance down there 2 times in the previous month. I started thinking, what if she needs help and I know that her daughter will not be able to get out (up hill) for 4 or 5 days.

I went ahead and spent an hour or so opening up a single lane path.

A couple of days later the daughter came by with a plate of cookies. That was enough thanks for me!

I remember a few years ago it snowed in the Gulf of Mexico, AND IN Mexico according to the satellite radar. That was the year when I think they were pushing global warming or climate change. I know that it was snowing in Mexico, because I was talking to someone in Ciudad Juarez I think, and he said that it was snowing there.

And its STILL abandoned 10 years after that and run down something terrible and looks like holy crap grass & weeds 3 feet tall most of the summer and junk all over you just cant win in this old world.

Sometimes it really seems no good deed goes unpunished...

A neighbor down the street and I became very good friends... she had lived in her home 65 years and her husband had passed away many years ago...

I would do her bank deposits and an occasional errand... she would always have a slice of lemon cake and a ice cold coke waiting for me anytime.

She was mugged at 10 am one Sunday morning leaving the grocery store and it broke her hip... for over two years another neighbor and I would water and take care of her place... she never did make it back home... I added deadbolt locks and would bring her things...

Anyway... when she passed everything went to a nephew... I mentioned to him that I was interested in buying if the home should become available... gave him my number...

The home had a quick cosmetic job and was resold... the folks that bought it refied several times and walked away last month... the original owner would be in shock if she would see how dilapidated it has become...

I was away for 4 weeks and when I came back I found the property had been sold... called him and he said someone just made him a cash offer and he took it... way below what I was thinking...

That is life, the owner of the deed has the power to sell it to whoever they want!
