Id stop by and say something, unless there like my neighbors there probably fine by it. Especially since they mentioned the kids playing and not being allowed to, you can say you wanted to help them out so the kids could go out.

Wow, quick action by the mods, removing that picture!

A couple of years ago, we had a snow storm that dropped 15" of snow. That's the biggest snow fall I have ever seen here in the desert. I live about 1/4 mile off the paved road and had to plow it myself to get out. As I was finishing, I looked down the road to the next house where an old woman lives. I had seen the ambulance down there 2 times in the previous month. I started thinking, what if she needs help and I know that her daughter will not be able to get out (up hill) for 4 or 5 days.

I went ahead and spent an hour or so opening up a single lane path.

A couple of days later the daughter came by with a plate of cookies. That was enough thanks for me!

I was thinking I might do the manly thing and just ask my wife to go down there and introduce herself and see if the coast is clear.

I've got an awesome neighbor that (without asking) just plows out my driveway when the snow gets deep. My feeling is "THANK YOU!!" He's got the nice John Deere tractor, and I don't. I bet those new neighbors would most likely be very grateful, since they might not have the equipment to handle that type of task just yet.

I say, God Bless ya sir for being a thoughtful, and caring neighbor!

I think is was okay to do that, but I would have asked them first...sorry to have a different view. coming from the city and now to farm land, some city folk may take your jester as a mixed message...are your telling them they can't or are incapable of handling it themselves? I would not assume they did not have a plan or were going to get to it - maybe looking forward to cleaning up their lot. let them know you were out with your mower and based on the conversation, you thought you'd take care of this figuring they are busy trying to settle in. Just another view for consideration.:confused2:

Ive had my tractor and a good bit of 3pt toys er tools for behind it for near a decade now. well first 4 or so years I went through several neighbors and most are new now, I'm not all that long of being there myself. well I can say for plowing snow I think I have as many miles doing other drives than my own. this past winter we had several nice snow falls 12 + inches 3 or 4 times. I dont normally live out there but been working on my own to build a place one bit at a time. one of my younger neighbors back 18 months or so ago was looking at a tractor as he bought the lot between us doubling his land size. So he was in market for a tractor & I pointed him to a low buck china made one he just loves. each time I came to push snow mine was already fresh done. :) I keep all my spare tools parked out and told him to help himself if he needs one. This spring floods hit my park area pretty bad deposited 3 different times between 40 and 100 yards of gravel into my woods park area. I was using my FEL and Dump Trailer to move it up to the drive & spread it out. he came driving down and wanted to know what he could do to help so I left mine hooked up to the dump trailer and had him load gravel, all those loads went right onto his drive & spare lot new drive he had been buying & hauling gravel into... great to have good neighbors.

When I got my new to me Kubota I started shoveling snow from everyone driveways. I let them know if only so they were not friked out.

When I had a house in town I stayed there one winter and had one of my tractors there to keep my drive and our apartments driveways cleared of snow. Well, my friend from highschool lived down the road and I would go that way and plow their driveway out every chance I had. They finally caught me about a month into the snow season and admitted to having quite a few conversations about "who" kept plowing their driveway

That was about the only fun thing about living in a town for me
