how would i tighten this fitting down onto an Aeroquip fc-234? (please see attached )

as you can see from the photos, there is no nut with flats to be able to tighten the part that is supposed to be inserted into the part with flats that is turned CCW down onto the hyd. hose. (i have seen other, similar fittings that DO have the nut). Thank youse!

Tighten the fitting down on a mating male fitting, then complete the splice.
