How to transport 20 foot drainage pipe?

Car have a hitch? bolt a trailer hitch to front end of the pipe and hitch it up!
For the rear end strap the pipe onto a small trailer. Heck even bolt the pipe to the trailer.
1/2 bolts would not weaken that pipe or leak worth a darn.

Heck 3 times I hauled a small aircraft by substituting the tail wheel for a trailer hitch and towed those aircraft to their destinations.
Admittedly I snuck via back roads, LOL. While not legal I did have flags, lights etc to be as safe as possible. One trip was even across the Can/US border.

A few years ago my brother in law would have hauled it home on his VW bug. He had a roof rack and he hauled many things up there. One time he even hauled 5 RR ties in one trip. He has more nerve than I do. Ed

Pffft. I brought home a 20' culvert on my Ford Ranger.
Had ladder racks on 6' box, that's only 7' hanging off back and over hood.

Roof racks one of the most versatile transport inventions ever in my book...

With or without wing?

I need some 18" drainage pipe, which comes in 20 foot lengths. Biggest trailer my car will handle is 12 feet.

Any suggestions on how to get these home?

Thanks

Rent a U-haul truck. especially if is a cheap daily rental fee and mileage included.

Open the trunk lid on your car. Put one end in trunk, other end on trailer. Don't make any sharp turns.

Put it on the trailer, but slid it forward over the tongue. Then use some magnetic lights to extend the trailer lights to the end of the trailer (culvert). This is a load that I hauled from PA to WI. 35' beams on a 22' trailer. You can barely see the lights duct taped to the ends of the beams.

I have carried a long flagpole chained to the axles to my truck. Not something I would recommend these days, especially if you are not out in the country. I just put in two 20' long culverts last summer. Screwed some wood to the floor of my 16' trailer to make a front/bac cradle for them to sit in so they would not roll.. Then strapped them down good with 2" straps. Put a good red flag on the rear which was sticking out about 4', and was good to go....

Buy some cheap clamp on wheels. Put them on one end and the other in your trunk or tied with baler twine to your rear window wiper.
Some really good (?) ideas there, zzvyb6. Made me realize I have the solution!
I have lots of those Harbor Freight moving dollies... I'll just strap one every couple of feet, tie a string to one end, and have my wife hold the string while we drive home!
Thanks!
