How to start today's modern chainsaws........

Not the worst! Not some very fancy (time wasting) beginning I could care less about, and not endless talking.

I never put the saw on the ground to start preferring just to hold it, as I would prefer to avoid crouching whenever possible.

Our first and POS saw was a Pioneer with "Easy Arc" starting around 72. That man would be skinny as a rake if he pulled on that damm thing as often as we did!

My Father purchased a Pioneer chain saw and was good running until the humidity came up then wouldn't start.
Came home on vacation and walking in our woods came across the saw sitting on stump. brought home told Dad found his saw. He picked it up and tossed into scrap barrow. Saying there is more to life than trying to start a saw,
In his pick up was a new yellow saw.

I would bet the problem isn't the saw, but rather it is due to the fuel. I would recommend you start using 100% gasoline (some places call it RECREATIONAL GAS), not the more common 10% ethanol blended fuel. It will start easier, have more power and not eat/corrode your carb and fuel system.
Yes, it is a bit more money, but you won't need to run the fuel stabilizer and the fuel will not go bad (pulling in moisture from the air) in two weeks. I use 100% gasoline in anything that I don't run at least every other day... this list includes my chainsaw, lawn mowers, rototiller, power generator, wood splitter, weed whip and old '65 Ford wood hauler. he had me at dumping the 5w-20 to all over-flowing. The enthusiasm shown? That there is the stuff of legends I tell ya.

Somehow, I'll just soldier on in ignorance simply following the start directions printed right on body of my Husky.
