Loader How to increase loader lift capacity

/ How to increase loader lift capacity #21
Everything mentioned here is correct...
I think that many on here, myself included, tend to over analyze things...
When I added a FEL to my 1720 I investigated all major brands and looked at lift capacity, height, ect...
I decided to go with a Stol FC 350...
I told my dealer that I wanted to be sure that the loader would curl the front end of the tractor off of the ground...
I was aware that some New Hollands had their pressure set low from the factory and in some instances this was an issue...
My dealer set my pressure relief to factory settings prior to installing the FEL and I have been very satisfied...
My loader will lift around 1000# and this is a good match for my tractor...
I think that my front axle is rated for 930#...
Again, If I wanted more pressure I would have no problem in bumping the pressure up...
Just make sure to stay under the load capacity of your front axle...
I have no need to adjust mine...

Here is a kit from BXpanded Hydraulic Pressure Testers that includes instructions on how to test your pressure first. Your pressure may be below spec like mine was.

Thanks... I will be sure to pressure test before I do anything.

Politics pruned per pundit.

Please continue the discussion.

Pundit considers pruning comment unnecessary. Discussion appears to be going forward regardless.

If you are looking to get a little more lift capacity out of your loader then a pressure check and adjustment, if necessary, is a good way to go. I was looking for more lift capacity with the LA302 on my B7500. I did check my pressure first and saw that it was close to the factory spec. So after reading a post by Mars who changed out the lift and curl cylinders on his John Deere I was inspired to do the same. I know that there are guys on TBN that will say doing something like this is unsafe. But I know there is a fair amount of safety margin in the design of the loader frame and other parts of our tractors, like the front axle as long as we are careful with moving that heavier load. The extra lift capacity is something that is typically used occasionally which decreases any possible problems. Realize that you must have the necessary counterweight on though. Here is a link to my thread for this conversion: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...-my-loader-upgrade-completed.html#post2506029

Where can I find my Hydraulic Pressure numbers? I haven't been able to find them, guess I overlooked them.

Look in the Specifications section of the operator's manual.
