OP here... thanks JMER, still looking for pics on the subject
OK, here is a no grapple project, starting with the "no chain" saw. :D

Needed to remove this cedar tree at the fence line. Too big to pull, too close to the fence to push over.

Heavier than expected.

Only have 270 pounds of counterweight.

Went to the shop, added more counterweight.

No grappled it to the other side of the driveway.

Drove around to the other side, picked it up for better pictures! :)

Well I was curious as to what that 26' tall cedar tree weighed, so I took the crane scale out there.

550 pounds, here it is hanging on the scale.

It is too wide to grapple it down the narrow driveway, so I used the light weight block forks.

Put the forks in the limbs, the bottom of the frame on top of the trunk and curled back.

Backed down the driveway.

Put it on the burn pile.

There is a Grappling Fun - picture thread I have been following and enjoying all the great 'claws' but for some of us that cannot legitimately participate in that thread and only drool and dream... I offer this one. Again, pictures appreciated. Sure could've used a grapple. :smiley_aafz:

I have a grapple for my skid steer but not for my tractor. The forks work really well for moving a large pile of branches if stacked properly. If I don't have the forks with me then a lot of times the bucket will work. Sometimes I chain what I am moving to the hooks on the bucket.
