Over the last year I've been getting an area ready for the barn and in the process I've messed up my yard pretty bad. I have an old 50HP Ford with filled tires so it's left some pretty good ruts and stuff. Today was the first time in almost year I've used the lawn mover to cut the grass and about lost my teeth because of the bumps. Is there something I can do to kind of smooth it out or should I just wait till fall and till it up and start over?

Maybe some type of a heavy drag to knock down the high spot ?

Heavy roller just after a good soaking rain.
But ruts are ruts, and short of filling in the low spots with some good dirt, not a lot that can be done. JB's suggestion is a good one for the high spots. Then some grass seed and watering. Tilling in the fall will work too :)

I likely will get to do some of that same repair when the well drilling rig shows up this summer to punch my well down deeper. Those trucks are heavy.

I'm thinking just grade and till the whole thing and start over...I've also made quite a mess of some parts of our property...:D

I would use my boxblade with teeth down then follow up with my landscape rake. I had a mess to clean up today from my paver patio project that I completed this afternoon. It turned out great.

Box blade and teeth, and then a pulverizer.
